About this spirit
Unveiled in mid-2018 as the oldest of three Mortlach single malts, alongside the Mortlach 12 Year Old and Mortlach 16 Year Old, this expression has matured for 20 years exclusively in sherry casks. Intensely flavoursome, as expected from Mortlach, it offers a scent of roasted chestnuts and tobacco, quickly followed by dense chocolate and red berry richness, with a whisper of meaty malt underneath. On the palate, clove and brandy butter arrive first, followed by chewy dates, orange peel, mature oak, and Hobnob biscuits. The aftertaste lingers with lasting Christmas spice and a touch of cooked summer berries.
