About this wine

Bedoba Saperavi is a powerful, expressive red from the Kakheti region of Georgia , crafted by the Konchosvilli family whose winemaking history in Kakheti dates back to 1737. Fermented in both stainless steel and traditional clay qvevri, and aged in oak, this is an exceptional expression of one of the world's most ancient and characterful wine cultures. Why You'll Love It Saperavi is Georgia's great indigenous red variety, capable of producing wines of remarkable depth, colour, and longevity. At Bedoba, winemakers Nugzar Ksovreli and Thierry Fontannaz embrace a unique blend of traditional Georgian methods and modern winemaking, honouring centuries of viticultural heritage while practising sustainable and organic viticulture. The result is a wine with exceptional complexity, authentic Georgian character, and a depth that rewards every glass. Vineyard and Production Grapes are sourced from 30-year-old vines in the Kvareli and Kindzmarauli appellations along the Duruji River valley, on the southern slopes of the Caucasus Mountains at elevations over 400 metres. Soils are rich in black shale, providing freshness, soft tannins, and concentration of flavour. Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted, with a small percentage undergoing whole-bunch fermentation and others left to dry naturally on the vine until November to concentrate flavours further. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and traditional clay qvevri, followed by ageing in second and third-use American oak barrels and 5,000-litre wooden vats. The final blend is assembled from tank, vat, oak, and qvevri components, with additional bottle ageing to achieve a seamless texture. Tasting Notes Dark purple in the glass, Bedoba Saperavi opens with a savoury and spicy bouquet of blackberries, herbs, flowers, and black pepper. The palate is creamy and juicy with ripe tannins, layered black fruit, and a savoury complexity that speaks clearly of the Kakheti terroir. The finish is
