About this wine
Biscardo Neropasso is a richly expressive Italian red wine crafted using the traditional Appassimento method, where grapes are carefully dried to concentrate their flavours and natural sugars. This award-winning wine combines the elegance of Veneto's native Corvina and Corvinone grapes with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon , creating a beautifully balanced wine with intense fruit, velvety tannins, and remarkable depth. Perfect for those who appreciate the rich, smooth character of Amarone-style wines at an accessible price point. Why You'll Love It This is Appassimento winemaking at its most approachable—delivering the concentrated fruit and silky texture of premium dried-grape wines without the premium price tag. Winner of a Gold medal at the Berliner Wine Trophy 2024, it offers exceptional quality and drinkability from a family with over 150 years of winemaking heritage. The Producer The Biscardo Family have been making wine in the Veneto region for over 150 years and are currently led by brothers Maurizio and Martino. During his long career, Maurizio consulted for prominent wineries across Italy, discovering exceptional vineyards. Both their Veneto wines are noted for irresistible drinkability, aromatic purity, and exceptional value. Viticulture The soils vary considerably, adding complexity to the wine: brown and red soils on silts, loam rocks from the Cretaceous period, compact red soils on basalt, and compact red soils on Eocene limestone. Each valley imparts different qualities, though all have high calcareous content with many large stones in the top half metre of soil. Winemaking Ripe, healthy grapes are hand-selected. The thinnest bunches are chosen for optimal air circulation and laid in perforated plastic boxes to ensure ventilation. The grapes are stacked in the fruttaio, a large airy room, and carefully monitored during the Appassimento drying process. Selected grapes are slightly wilted before soft pressing, and the wine is then aged partly in stee
