About this wine

Bright red with a purple hue, this Pinotage is rich and bold with aromas of plums, blackberries, layers of liquorice, smoke, roasted nuts, and vanilla. The palate offers plums, red and black cherries, dark chocolate, and spicy oak, balanced by plush ripe tannins and lively acidity, culminating in a long, elegant finish. Vineyard & Terroir Sourced from 63-year-old unirrigated bush vines grown on the Kanonkop estate. Cooler vintage conditions result in softer tannins and approachable wines with excellent aging potential. Winemaking Fermented in open top concrete fermenters at 28°C with hand punch downs every 2 hours for 3 days. After malolactic fermentation, the wine matured for 18 months in 80% new and 20% second fill 225L French Nevers oak barrels.
