Meet the Producer Founded in the 17th century, Château Léoville Poyferré is one of the leading classified growths of Saint-Julien, owned by the Cuvelier family since 1920. The estate combines traditional Bordeaux savoir-faire with modern precision winemaking. Under the direction of Didier Cuvelier and oenologist Isabelle Davin, the château has gained acclaim for its expressive, structured wines that perfectly capture the gravelly terroir of Saint-Julien. Vineyards The Saint-Julien appellation is renowned for its deep gravel soils, which promote excellent drainage and encourage vines to develop deep root systems. Léoville Poyferré cultivates 80 hectares of vineyards spread across five distinct gravel soil types, planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc. Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré is made from the younger vines of these parcels, expressing the freshness and vibrancy of the estate’s terroir. Sustainable practices and minimal intervention are central to the estate’s philosophy, ensuring a pure and authentic reflection of each site. Vinification Grapes are hand-harvested and meticulously sorted twice—first on a manual table before destemming and again by optical sorting—to ensure only the finest berries are selected.
