Taylor’s LBV Late Bottled Vintage Port 2018 Magnum is a rich and refined expression of a single vintage, matured to perfection and bottled ready to enjoy, offering the depth and character of vintage Port with the accessibility of a late release. Sourced from top-quality grapes grown in the Douro Valley’s steep, schist-rich vineyards, the 2018 vintage benefited from a warm, dry growing season followed by ideal harvest conditions. The fruit was selected from Taylor’s own estates and other high-altitude sites known for producing concentrated, aromatic grapes with excellent ageing potential. Winemaking The wine is made using traditional foot-treading in granite lagares to extract colour and tannin, followed by fermentation under controlled temperatures. It is then aged for four to six years in seasoned oak vats, allowing it to develop complexity and roundness while retaining freshness. Unlike vintage Port, LBV is filtered before bottling, making it stable and ready to drink without decanting. Tasting Notes Taylor’s LBV 2018 Magnum pours a deep ruby-black with violet highlights. The nose is intense and elegant, offering aromas of blackberry, cassis, and cherry, layered with notes of liquorice, spice, and subtle floral hints. On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, with ripe tannins and a fine balance of sweetness and acidity. Flavours of dark fruit, chocolate, and spice unfold with precision, leading to a long, harmonious finish. Food Pairing Pairs beautifully with blue cheeses, dark chocolate desserts, berry tarts, and roasted nuts. Also excellent as a luxurious after-dinner drink. Serving Temperature Best served at 16–18°C.
