Tenute Pieralisi Villaia Classico Superiore is an elegant organic Verdicchio from the Marche region, representing the finest expression of the Pieralisi family’s prized Colle del Sole vineyard. Harvested at full ripeness and naturally vinified, this wine showcases racy acidity, textured fruit, and a delicate hint of salinity, reflecting the rich clay and silt soils of eastern Marche. Meet the producer Since 1976, the Pieralisi family has been dedicated to producing exceptional wines in Marche, combining respect for tradition with modern winemaking techniques to craft expressive, terroir-driven wines. Production The grapes are sourced from the Colle del Sole vineyard, Guyot trained across 4 hectares at 120m altitude. Harvested in early October, the grapes undergo spontaneous fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts. The wine is then aged on fine lees for approximately five months to enhance texture, complexity, and aromatic depth. Tasting notes Ripe aromas of peach, apricot, white flowers, and honey lead to a concentrated palate, with rich tropical fruit flavours of pineapple and stone fruit. The wine is underpinned by vibrant acidity and a subtle saline minerality, providing structure, balance, and length. Food match Monica Larner of the Wine Advocate recommends pairing with stuffed courgettes or fried artichokes.
