About this wine

Undurraga Terroir Hunter Peumo Valle de Cachapoal Carmenère 2024 is crafted by Viña Undurraga, one of Chile’s most prestigious and historic wine producers. Founded in 1885, the winery owns 1,350 hectares of estate vineyards across leading regions including Leyda Valley, Cauquenes and Itata Valley, and is certified by Sustainable Wines of Chile. Head winemaker Rafael Urrejola has dedicated years to studying Chile’s diverse vineyard sites, resulting in the acclaimed Terroir Hunter range, which highlights the distinctive character of individual terroirs. In 2023, he became the first Chilean to be named Red Winemaker of the Year by the International Wine Challenge. Production This red wine is made from 100% Carmenère grown in Peumo in the Valle de Cachapoal, an area renowned for producing some of Chile’s finest examples of the variety. The vineyards are cultivated with respect for the environment, and minimal intervention is practised in the cellar to preserve purity of fruit and express the unique terroir. Tasting notes A smooth and expressive Carmenère with intense aromas of fresh raspberries and cherries, complemented by subtle hints of green pepper. The palate reveals notes of dark chocolate and sweet berry fruit, framed by smooth, elegant tannins and vibrant acidity that delivers a fresh, juicy finish. Food match Pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roast lamb, barbecued vegetables or hearty pasta dishes. Grape varieties Carmenère 100%
