Tempos Vega Sicilia is one of Spain’s most iconic wine estates, renowned for its meticulous craftsmanship and age-worthy wines. Pintia represents the estate’s pioneering spirit in the Toro region, offering a modern interpretation of Tinta de Toro while staying true to the family’s legacy of excellence. Production The grapes are hand-harvested and undergo a rigorous double sorting process to ensure only the finest fruit is used. After a cold maceration to preserve freshness, fermentation takes place in oak vats with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation is completed in wood, and ageing includes amphorae and less-toasted barrels to soften extraction and enhance finesse. This vintage saw careful handling due to its concentration and power, resulting in a wine of balance and depth. Tasting notes Intense aromas of blackberries, graphite, cocoa powder, and sandalwood lead into a palate of ripe plum, cherry, and delicate spice. Chalky tannins provide structure, while a nervy backbone and subtle barrel notes add complexity. The finish is long, fresh, and gently warming, with a touch of dark olive and orange peel. Food match A superb match for grilled lamb, aged Manchego, venison, or rich mushroom dishes. Also pairs beautifully with smoky barbecue flavours and hearty stews.
