Ventisquero Grey Carménère is an elegant and expressive red wine from the Maipo Valley, showcasing the classic depth and character of Chile’s signature grape variety. Deep aromas of ripe blackberries, blueberries, and black cherry are delicately layered with warm spice and subtle minerality. Silky and velvety on the palate, this wine offers richness, balance, and a lingering finish that beautifully reflects its origin and craftsmanship. Meet the Producer Ventisquero, meaning glacier in Spanish, draws inspiration from Chile’s dramatic landscapes and diverse terroirs. Under the guidance of winemaker Felipe Tosso, the estate crafts wines that capture the essence of their single-vineyard origins. The Grey collection highlights individual vineyard blocks, each expressing its own unique sense of place through precision, balance, and elegance. Production Only 50% of the grapes were crushed before fermentation to maintain fruit integrity. A pre-fermentative maceration at 8°C for five days enhanced colour and aroma. As the temperature gradually increased, fermentation began at 22–26°C, with daily pump-overs carefully adjusted based on tasting. After 32 days in tank, the wine was transferred to French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation took place—an essential step in achieving harmony between fruit and oak. Maturation The wine was aged for 18 months in extra fine-grain French oak barrels (34% new, 66% second and third use) and further matured for eight months in bottle before release. It was racked three times to ensure purity and refinement. Tasting Notes Deep ruby in colour, this Carménère reveals intense aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and black cherry, balanced by warm spice and mineral undertones. The palate is velvety and full-bodied, with soft tannins and a long, elegant finish. Food Match Serve at 16–18°C. A superb partner to game dishes such as venison and wild boar, as well as roast pork, lamb, and other richly flavoured meats. Grape Carménère 100%
