AltoLandon Dulce Enero is a rare and exquisite ice wine from one of Spain's most extraordinary high-altitude estates, Bodegas Altolandon in the DO Manchuela, crafted from Petit Manseng grapes hand-picked in January when frozen at temperatures below minus 5 degrees. Intensely aromatic, naturally sweet and beautifully balanced, this is a wine made only in exceptional vintages and in very limited quantities. Why You'll Love It Bodegas Altolandon is run by Rosalia Molina, who farms certified organic vineyards at 1,100 metres above sea level, one of the highest altitude wine estates in Spain. Her philosophy is one of minimal intervention and maximum respect for the land, with freely roaming farm animals promoting biodiversity, all grapes hand-harvested, and wines vinified with native yeasts and no added sulphites. Dulce Enero is the rarest expression in the range, made only when conditions allow the grapes to freeze naturally on the vine, concentrating sugars and aromatics to extraordinary levels. Vineyard & Production Petit Manseng grapes are hand-picked in January when frozen at temperatures below minus 5 degrees for at least five days. The frozen grapes are pressed immediately to concentrate sugars and retain acidity. Fermentation uses native yeasts and is slow, taking 2 to 3 months in small stainless steel tanks. No added sulphites are used and clarification occurs naturally, preserving the purity of fruit and the character of the vineyard. Tasting Notes Golden-amber in colour with intense aromas of tropical fruits, peach, apricot, citrus and honey. The palate is vibrant and medium-bodied, with ripe stone fruits, a mineral undertone and persistent sweetness beautifully balanced by refreshing acidity. The finish is long, sweet and lingering. Perfect Pairings Serve very cold as an aperitif or alongside foie gras, strong cheeses, Iberico ham and prawns with lemongrass. Also excellent with fruit-based desserts and ice cream, or simply enjoyed on its own as a special occa
