Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for an hour. Located on beautiful Vashon Island in Washington state, Andrew Will is a family-run winery founded by Chris Camarda in 1989 and now run by Chris and his son Will. Considered one of the best in the state for the quality of its wines, the winery maintains a meticulous approach to winemaking and a keen attention to terroir. Champoux Red is a powerful red wine made from a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with small additions of Petit Verdot, and aged for almost two years in French oak (70% used). This wine can age beautifully for a couple of decades, but is also ready to be enjoyed now. In the glass, it reveals a deep, dense color with purplish hues. Its aromatic profile is intense and complex, with notes of cherry and cassis, blackberry, and red plum, followed by floral and herbal aromas, on a chocolatey undertone. On the palate, it is full-bodied and distinctive. It has a rich texture and firm yet well-integrated tannins. It is powerful and balanced, with a refreshing acidity and a long, persistent finish that recalls woody and spicy notes. Leave it in the cellar for a while, or, if you can’t wait, try it with a big juicy steak.
