Founded in 1979 by René Barbier III and his wife Isabelle, Clos Mogador is a renowned and award-winning Spanish winery located in the Priorat region. Nelin is a blend of eight native grape varieties (Garnacha Blanca, Macabeo, Pansal, Picapoll, Cartoixá, Trepat Blanc, Cariñena Blanca, and Pedro Ximénez) from four small plots spread across terraced mountain slopes between 350 and 500 meters above sea level, totaling 5.8 hectares. Here, the vines, cultivated according to the principles of regenerative viticulture, benefit from schist soils. After harvesting and a brief maceration on the skins, fermentation occurs spontaneously in oak vats, and the finished wine ages for a year in vats, and an additional 6 months in stainless steel. In the glass, Clos Mogador Nelin reveals a brilliant pale straw color with golden highlights. Its aromatic profile is broad and intense, with fruity notes of pear, peach, and almond, followed by spicy hints and a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is rich, fresh, round and generous. It has a smooth texture and a distinctive minerality. The finish is long and gently savory. Try it with pan-seared scallops, orecchiette with turnip greens, or asparagus risotto.
