Drink it now or cellar for up to 25 years. It is recommended to decant it for at least an hour. Damilano is one of the historic Barolo estates, whose origins date back to the late 19th century, when Giuseppe Borgogno began producing his wine. Today, the estate extends over 50 hectares of vineyards, some of which are spread across the prestigious Cannubi, Brunate, Cerequio, and Liste crus. The estate also produces local wines such as Dolcetto, Moscato, and Barbera. The Nebbiolo grapes are sourced from vineyards located in the municipality of Serralunga d'Alba, an area particularly renowned for the exceptional aging potential of its wines. After harvest and temperature-controlled fermentation, the finished wine ages for two years in large barrels and for a further 12 months in the bottle. The Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is an elegant and distinctive wine, revealing an intense garnet color in the glass. On the nose, it displays a broad and complex aromatic profile that opens with notes of sweet violet, ripe cherry, and wild berries, followed by hints of tobacco, spice, and licorice. On the palate, it is rich, round, and full-bodied, with a velvety texture and fine, ripe tannins. The finish is long and juicy. Try it with porcini mushroom risotto or tagliolini with truffle.
