The bouquet of this wine is all perfume, poise and pleasure for the lover of fine Cabernet. Great depth and nuance, as the sweet and saintly violets meld with bush herbs as fresh red, blue and black fruits, gently simmer beneath the surface. Naturally the flavour and structure of the palate is no less exciting. A graphite mineral/savoury note gives a defined flavour and direction to start as rich berry fruits dominate the mid palate then succumb to supple, linear fruit tannins, cajoled by slick cocoa oak notes that complete the wine. This wine is an organoleptic extravaganza and will give great enjoyment for decades. Very good regional cabernet. Full-weighted. Alluvial of tannic detail, maritime of saline freshness and nicely poised, with an overall impression of a savory mid-weight. Aromas of cedar, sage, karri scrub and blackcurrant, with a long, linger of iodine and black olive. A little bitter and the acidity is forced, to be churlish. While this is already breachable, I'd like to see it in a decade. Rich notes of mocha, baking cherry, dried herbs and savory spice on the nose lead to a palate that's wound in powerful, cat's tongue tannins. It's somewhat austere at the moment, lacking the upfront appeal of previous vintages, but has cellaring potential well past a decade.
