A beautifully crafted late-harvest Moscato d’Asti from the Palazzina vineyard, offering luscious sweetness, layered complexity and exceptional value. Meet the producer Il Cascinone, a jewel in the Monferrato hills, was acquired by leading Piemonte producer Araldica in 1999. Since then, the estate has flourished under expert care, with a focus on producing expressive and authentic wines that showcase the richness of Piemonte’s terroir. Production From the Palazzina vineyard on the estate, yields are kept low at 3000 litres per hectare. Grapes are harvested by hand a month later than the usual Moscato harvest, then dried on traditional graticci (rush mats), losing around 40% of their weight through evaporation. Pressed in mid-December, the bunches undergo a slow fermentation in oak barrels for two months, followed by 12 months’ ageing prior to bottling. Tasting notes An enticing nose of marmalade, orange peel and fragrant honeysuckle. The palate reveals ripe apricot, acacia honey and delicate candied citrus, with luscious sweetness beautifully offset by a fresh citrus zest lift and a lingering dried fruit finish.
