Black cherry and cassis unfold on the palate, accented by hints of black pepper and cocoa nib from extended aging in French oak. An impressive wine that is remarkably poised and polished for such a young wine, balancing supple tannins with a broad and beautiful mid-palate. This wine has energy and freshness, with lovely red fruit and spice aromas and plenty of cool-climate cabernet sauvignon character. The succulent palate is refined, pure and silky, with fine acidity and softly integrated tannins. Highly drinkable, ageable and enjoyable. This opaque, crimson-hued wine brings aromas of spiced cherry, chopped herb mélange, purple flowers and grilled game. The palate provides a hefty dose of plush tannin framing flavors of intense blackberry, bitter chocolate, cedar, and loads of cinnamon that lingers across the ageworthy finish. The introduction cuvée of this great estate, based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from throughout the property in Calistoga and aged in 76% new French oak, the 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a deep plum hue and a classic Larkmead nose of red and black fruits, scorched earth, leather, and graphite. It's medium to full-bodied, has ample mid-palate depth, good concentration, and a great finish. Drink 2026-2035.
