Ample and deep bouquet with dark fruits and a pronounced spiciness. The minerality is ever-present. It is well-structured and vibrant, with tightly-knit tannins. Contrada Guardiola consistently asserts itself as a composed, at times almost austere wine with a significant ageing potential. A complex, elegant wine. Impressive fresh strawberries and red cherries are enhanced by mint, aromatic herbs and stony minerality. Dense and full-bodied, it shines with powerful structure and almost zesty acidity. Tight, biting yet ripe tannins are dustier in the finish. Best after one or two years. Drink from 2026. Coming from Guardiola, the 2023 Contrada G is a youthful ruby color. They struggled with Peronospora here in this vintage, resulting in greatly reduced yields. Sacrifice aside, it's a fantastic wine, with gorgeous with notes of black raspberries, violets, sage, and hints of anise. It's savory on the palate, with ripe tannins and slightly broader shoulders, and it has deeper notes and a more saturating and rounder texture as well as a long finish. The brooding and intense 2023 Rosso Contrada G smolders up with a mix of smoky crushed stones, savory herbs and nuances of spiced orange. This shows a significantly lifted and graceful profile, soft and almost weightless, with inner violet and lavender tones that complement its ripe blackberry fruit. The 2023 leaves a crunchy sensation on the long, edgy finish as a bump of zesty acidity provides balance. This is the most delicate Guardiola I've encountered, but it's a style that really works.
