Their production is limited but reveals a keen attention to the pure expression of terroir. The Devil is a Liar is an elegant field-blend, made predominantly with Grenache, and additions of Syrah and Mourvèdre from bush-trained vines at WeatherEye Vineyard, in the North Slope Columbia Valley. Its name comes from a phrase Seth and Aubrey Kitzke are fond of repeating, reminding themselves not to get caught up in the frenzy of daily life but to stay present and focused on the important things. In the glass, the wine reveals a brilliant color with vivid ruby tones. Its aromatic profile is fresh and fragrant with floral notes of violet, hints of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry, followed by smoky touches, nuances of tobacco, and white pepper. On the palate, it is concentrated and intense, flavorful, and round. It has a medium-full body and velvety tannins. It is fruity and fresh with smoky notes that return on the long, lingering finish. It pairs well with roast pork, Italian porchetta, meat and mushroom pies, and even with grilled duck breast.
