Enjoy it now, or cellar for a few years. No need to decant before serving. Chateau de Meursault is one of Burgundy’s grand, old estates, responsible for creating some of the region's most delectable wines. Since 2012, it has been under the ownership of the Halley family, who also own the nearby Chateau de Marsannay, and have overseen the transition to fully organic farming methods. The chateau itself is located in the Meursault appellation of Côte de Beaune, but the estate owns vineyard plots in some of the most renowned terroirs of Burgundy, such as Pommard, Volnay, and Aloxe-Corton. Its soils of clay-limestone and gravel gave life to this signature Chardonnay, an exemplary taste of what Chateau de Meursault, and Burgundy, have to offer. This Meursault exhibits a generous nose of white flowers, peach and nectarine, with buttery notes of toast and oatmeal. In the mouth, you’ll find rich citrus flavours mingling with sweet, ripe tropical fruits. Hints of mango and pineapple add to the round mouthful, which ends in a tangy finish. This is Chateau de Meursault’s signature wine and a truly brilliant expression of the region. Consider pairing it with brioche, savoury pastries such as gougère, or a delicate salmon dish.
