Drink it now or cellar for up to 15 years. No need to decant, but best to open it half an hour before service. Located in Monthelie, near Beaune, not far from the appellations of Meursault, Volnay, and Auxey-Duresses, Domaine Potinet-Ampeau produces a wide range of white and red wines, using traditional Burgundy methods. The estate, family-run for four generations, sustainably cultivates its 10 hectares of vineyards spread across the surrounding villages. After manual harvesting, the Chardonnay grapes for Meursault Village are pressed and left to settle for a day. Fermentation then takes place slowly in temperature-controlled barrels, and the finished wine then ages in Allier oak barrels (25-30% new) for approximately a year and a half. Domaine Potinet-Ampeau Meursault is an elegant wine with excellent value. In the glass, it reveals a brilliant golden yellow color. Its aromatic profile is broad and fragrant, with notes of apple and yellow plum, lemon zest, and wildflowers on a background of toasted almonds. On the palate, it is fresh and harmonious, soft and rounded, with a well-defined minerality and a crisp acidity that makes it refreshing and balanced. The finish is long and persistent. Try it with seafood soups, pan-seared monkfish, lemon Dover sole, or scallops.
