Drink it now or cellar for up to 8 years. No need to decant. Founded in 1912 by Edouard Langlois and his wife Jeanne Château with the acquisition of Maison Delandes, Langlois is a Loire Valley winery located in Saumur, specializing in the production of excellent classic method sparkling wines. The company has been part of the Bollinger Group since the 1970s and covers over 90 hectares of vineyards. Crémant de Loire Brut from Langlois is a blend of mostly Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay, with a small addition of Cabernet Franc. The grapes come from vineyards located in the Saumur area on silica-limestone, clay, and schist soils. After vinification and secondary fermentation in the bottle, the wine ages on the lees for four years. In the glass, the wine reveals a splendid pale yellow color with golden highlights and a fine, persistent perlage. Its aromatic profile is fragrant and fresh, with delicate notes of white fruit and wildflowers and hints of vanilla. On the palate, it is round, soft, and generous, with a creamy, smooth mouthfeel and lively acidity. The finish is long and gently recalls hibts of brioche. It makes a perfect aperitif on its own or with deep-fried appetizers, and pairs equally well with shellfish and seafood.
