Aberlour Casg Annamh Single Malt Whisky

Casg Annamh (means Rare Cask in Gaelic ) is a reflection of what Aberlour Distillery have done with this expression. They have hand picked their Spanish Oloroso Sherry casks from the same region in Spain as 30 years ago, filling them with their own whisky. They have matured this single malt in three different casks; European Oak Sherry cask and two different types of American Oak casks. Their rich flavours have been used to infuse the whisky during the maturation time. The outcome? Well it has created a rich aroma of tangy orange, glazed cherries and notes of ginger. When it hits the palate you will notice the sweetness that comes from the notes of apple, peaches and is backed with spice from cinnamon and liquorice. The finish is smooth and sweet with a little hint of spice. This listing is for Batch 4.

Kilchoman Sanaig Single Malt Whisky

Kilchoman Sanaig is a richly layered Islay single malt whisky, distinguished by its high proportion of Oloroso sherry cask influence, which imparts depth, sweetness and complexity to the distillery’s signature coastal peat style. Named after a rugged inlet on Islay’s Atlantic coast, Sanaig reflects Kilchoman’s commitment to traditional whisky-making and local provenance. It is crafted from a vatting of approximately 70% Oloroso sherry casks and 30% bourbon barrels, resulting in a profile that is distinctly richer and more decadent than its sibling expression, Machir Bay. On the nose, Sanaig opens with fragrant heather, raisins, pear and orange peel, followed by waves of stone fruits, mixed spices and rich peat smoke. The palate reveals overripe plums, red cherries and hints of citrus, which give way to barbecue peat smoke, toffee, oak and dark chocolate. A mouth-coating texture delivers mixed fruit, caramel, cinnamon and clove, layered with brown sugar, warming spices and lasting sweetness. Kilchoman’s farm-to-bottle ethos ensures full traceability, with barley grown and malted on-site. Sanaig’s longer fermentation time and small-batch distillation contribute to its refined character, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a balance of sherry richness and Islay smoke. It stands as a core range release that bridges the gap between the lighter Machir Bay and the more intense Loch Gorm, offering a versatile and rewarding dram for both newcomers and seasoned whisky enthusiasts.
