Akarua Rose Brut NV
The Skeggs family were among the first people to buy and plant vineyard land in Central Otago in the mid 1990s, and were lucky enough to acquire a superb north facing site in Bannockburn. Sustainability in the vineyard and winery is integral to the Akarua ethos; water conservation, recycling, the use of lightweight bottles, fully insulated barrel rooms and energy efficient lighting in the winery, are a few of the initiatives taken by Akarua to guarantee their accredited status as a sustainable producer. Tony Jordan, who built Domaine Chandon in Australia, and is one of the world's leading experts in sparkling wine production, has been enamoured with the potential for Central Otago to make top quality fizz for quite a while, and is now doing so with Akarua.
Domaine Rimauresq Rose Cru Classe 2025
Domaine Rimauresq is a select, modern estate in Provence , named after the 'Real Mauresque' river that runs through its 57 hectares of prime vineyards. With vines averaging 40 years old and the oldest dating back to 1930, the estate's north-west facing slopes, coastal proximity and shelter from the Mediterranean sun create a unique microclimate, aided by cooling Mistral winds. The result is a French Rose Wine of genuine refinement and Cru Classe standing. Why You'll Love It This is Dry Rose Wine at its most elegant. Rimauresq's meticulous vineyard practices and careful winemaking produce a pale, expressive rose that balances freshness and complexity with effortless grace. Organically farmed and crafted from a multi-variety blend, it offers the kind of nuance and length more commonly found at a higher price point. Vineyard and Production. Harvest is both mechanical and manual, carried out in the early morning to preserve freshness. Grapes undergo cold maceration on the skins before pressing, with free-run juice fermented at low temperatures. The wine spends three weeks on its lees with regular batonnage to enhance aromatic complexity. Malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve vibrant acidity. Tasting Notes. Delicate pale onion-skin colour. Aromas of strawberry and rosehip with an appealing garrigue-spiced nose. The palate is rounded and elegant, with red fruit, gentle spice and bright acidity. The finish is long, silky and nuanced, with a hint of white pepper. Perfect Pairings. An excellent match as an aperitif or paired with salads, grilled fish and a classic Nicoise salad. Also well suited to light pasta dishes, soft cheeses and seafood platters. Grape Varieties. Grenache , Cinsault, Rolle, Syrah, Mourvedre, Tibouren and Carignan
