Berry Bros & Rudd 2010 Mannochmore Single Malt
Quite mineral, grassy and malty on the nose as the fruit notes emerge. There is a green edge of lime and kiwi, apple and a little peppery edge. The palate builds well with more in the way of lemon zest, buttered toast and white pepper. Lingering and balanced in a refined manner. Mannochmore located just south of Elgin was built in 1971 as an addition to the Glenlossie distillery site and intended to produce spirit for Diageo’s Haig blends in times of need.
Mac-Talla PX Pedro Ximenez Limited Edition Single Malt Whisky
Mac‑Talla PX Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is presented as a richly expressive limited edition that brings together the island’s signature peat with the deep sweetness of Pedro Ximénez cask maturation. Crafted by Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers, it reflects generations of the family’s connection to Islay, offering a whisky that captures both place and tradition. Matured in a combination of first‑fill PX sherry butts and refill PX hogsheads, it delivers a bold, indulgent character while remaining true to the distillery’s coastal roots. Bottled at 52.8% and left non‑chill filtered with no added colour, it showcases its natural depth and intensity. Sounds punchy right? We sampled this and it was so smooth for this abv! The whisky opens with aromas of sticky dates, raisins and gentle peat, creating an inviting balance of dried fruit richness and soft smoke. The palate follows with layers of dark dried fruit, warm treacle toffee and a distinctive thread of coastal brine, all wrapped in the dense sweetness of PX sherry influence. Hints of spice emerge beneath the fruit, adding structure and warmth. The finish is long, rich and resonant, echoing raisins, dates and subtle peat in a harmonious close
