Champagne Gremillet Ambassadeur Brut (Magnum) NV
The Gremillet estate was founded by Jean-Michel Gremillet in 1979 and is situated in the southern reaches of the Aube, near Troyes, where the vineyards achieve greater ripeness and produce a richer, more characterful style of Champagne . The Ambassadeur Brut is Gremillet's flagship non-vintage cuvee, presented here in a magnum for those occasions that demand something truly special. Why You'll Love It This is Champagne of real generosity and class. The southern Aube terroir lends a richness and depth that sets Gremillet apart from many grandes marques, while the extended lees ageing of at least 22 months adds complexity and a beautifully toasty character. In magnum, the wine develops more slowly and gracefully, making this an outstanding choice for celebrations and special occasions. Vineyard and Production. Only the first, lightest pressings are used, as is customary for fine Champagne. A classic slow second fermentation in bottle is followed by ageing on the lees for at least 22 months before disgorgement and release. The southern Troyes vineyards contribute the characteristic baked biscuit flavours and toasty yeast overtones that define this cuvee. Tasting Notes. Fresh floral aromas combine with characteristic sweet brioche overtones, balanced by peach skin and baked biscuit flavours with a crisp citrus finish. Perfect Pairings. An excellent aperitif served well chilled, and equally well suited to light nibbles, salads and simple fish dishes. A natural choice for celebrations and gatherings. Grape Varieties. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay
Pol Couronne, Brut, (Magnum) NV
A classy champagne that ticks all the boxes. Perfectly poised, with notes of fresh apples, citrus and brioche, Pol Couronne gives most Grande Marque sparklers a run for their money, and has deservedly become our much-loved House Champagne. Pol Couronne boasts a perfect balance between the crispness of the Chardonnay, structure of the Pinot Noir and roundness of the Pinot Meunier. The use of 40% reserve wines and 42 months of lees ageing adds an interesting complexity and richness to the wine. "Impressive complexity and balance… a sophisticated and accessible champagne" Head Wine Guru Tom
