Glenfiddich 15 Year Old Single Malt

Exemplifying Glenfiddich's family’s tradition of innovation, the 15 Year Old expression is created using a technique pioneered by their Malt Master and its warm, spicy flavours are transformed with the alchemy of the Solera Vat. Aged in European oak sherry casks and new oak casks, the whisky is mellowed in a unique Solera Vat, a large oak tun inspired by the sherry bodegas of Spain and Portugal. Never emptied, and kept half full of whiskies since 1998, a Solera Vat is the culmination of curious minds and the pioneering spirit of the family. It’s also the secret behind this whisky becoming the first 15 year old expression to enter the top ten best selling single malts.

Kilchoman Sanaig Single Malt Whisky

Kilchoman Sanaig is a richly layered Islay single malt whisky, distinguished by its high proportion of Oloroso sherry cask influence, which imparts depth, sweetness and complexity to the distillery’s signature coastal peat style. Named after a rugged inlet on Islay’s Atlantic coast, Sanaig reflects Kilchoman’s commitment to traditional whisky-making and local provenance. It is crafted from a vatting of approximately 70% Oloroso sherry casks and 30% bourbon barrels, resulting in a profile that is distinctly richer and more decadent than its sibling expression, Machir Bay. On the nose, Sanaig opens with fragrant heather, raisins, pear and orange peel, followed by waves of stone fruits, mixed spices and rich peat smoke. The palate reveals overripe plums, red cherries and hints of citrus, which give way to barbecue peat smoke, toffee, oak and dark chocolate. A mouth-coating texture delivers mixed fruit, caramel, cinnamon and clove, layered with brown sugar, warming spices and lasting sweetness. Kilchoman’s farm-to-bottle ethos ensures full traceability, with barley grown and malted on-site. Sanaig’s longer fermentation time and small-batch distillation contribute to its refined character, making it a compelling choice for those seeking a balance of sherry richness and Islay smoke. It stands as a core range release that bridges the gap between the lighter Machir Bay and the more intense Loch Gorm, offering a versatile and rewarding dram for both newcomers and seasoned whisky enthusiasts.
