Lone Palm Vineyards Hillside Shiraz 2022

A powerful and expressive Shiraz from one of Barossa Valley’s premier hillside sites. Sourced from the best west-facing Marananga block, the Hillside Shiraz showcases the region’s signature depth, spice, and richness, all handcrafted by Lone Palm Vineyards. Meet the producer Established in 1992, Lone Palm Vineyards is nestled in the hamlet of Marananga, offering stunning views over its ancient vineyards and iconic gum trees. The winery focuses on producing site-specific wines with precision, respecting the Barossa terroir and blending traditional winemaking with modern techniques. Production This Hillside Shiraz comes exclusively from the west-facing Hillside Block in South Marananga. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented carefully to preserve varietal character. The wine is aged for at least 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, it is fully vegan-friendly. Tasting notes Deep, opaque, bloody-red in colour. The nose opens with classic Barossa ferrous notes and rich summer pudding aromas. The palate is rich and lively, layered with cassis, cinnamon, allspice, and leather. Full-bodied yet balanced, this Shiraz is a quintessential expression of top-tier Barossa Valley fruit. Food match Perfect with juicy rump steak, seared tuna, roasted vegetables, hearty chillis, or fine hard cheeses. Grape Shiraz 100%

Magpie Estate The Good Luck Club Cabernet Sauvignon 2022

Magpie Estate The Good Luck Club is a Cabernet Sauvignon from Smalltown Vineyard that defies easy categorisation — and is all the better for it. Notes of shoe-leather on the nose, a palate driven by fresh cassis, vanilla, a dollop of cream, and the texture of a lolly-stick sucked clean. It's, in the words of the winemaker, an absolute bloody marvel. Why You'll Love It Magpie Estate continues their long-standing tradition of superstitious wines with this dual-facing label — show either The Good Luck Club or The Bad Luck Club, illustrated in 19th-century Japanese Kabuki masks. It's a wine about the highs, lows, ayes, and noes of winemaking, chance, and the mad undulations of human existence. The magpie, a bird that for many represents fortune, feels like the perfect mascot. Serious wine, seriously good fun. Vineyard & Production Sourced from Smalltown Vineyard in the Barossa Valley, South Australia — a region that has long proven its mastery of Cabernet Sauvignon alongside its more celebrated Shiraz. Crafted with the precision and irreverence that defines the Magpie Estate house style. Tasting Notes Shoe-leather and dark fruit on the nose. The palate delivers fresh cassis, vanilla, and a dollop of cream, with the satisfying texture of a lolly-stick sucked clean. Rich, structured, and deeply characterful, with a long, rewarding finish. Perfect Pairings Excellent with slow-roasted lamb, beef short rib, mature hard cheeses, and dark chocolate. Also the ideal companion for a long evening of good conversation and better luck.
