Anselmo Mendes Contacto Alvarinho is one of Portugal's most expressive expressions of the Alvarinho grape, grown in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region of the Vinho Verde DOC. Widely regarded as the master of Alvarinho, Anselmo Mendes selects fruit from granite-soiled vineyards close to the river, where the mountain-sheltered microclimate delivers the perfect balance of freshness and ripeness. Vineyard & Production Grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards planted on granite soils with sandy loam textures, low altitude, and rich alluvial terraces close to the river. Hand-harvested into small boxes and transported swiftly to the winery, the fruit undergoes total de-stemming and a short skin maceration. Cold clarification at 12°C is followed by controlled fermentation to lock in aromatic purity and finesse. Tasting Notes Pale lemon in colour with bright clarity. The nose shows pronounced mineral intensity with delicate citrus blossom and white stone fruit aromas. On the palate, notes of grapefruit and green tea are complemented by a creamy, subtly unctuous texture and vibrant acidity. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent.
