This region is known for its mineral terroirs, and this wine is a shining example! The name of this cuvée is not insignificant, as "Calcrete" owes its name to the white limestone deposits found on the soil of the Van Loveren vineyards, located between Bonnievale and Robertson. These deposits bring richness, unique character and minerality that are characteristic of this exceptional terroir. The selected Chardonnays are cold fermented in stainless steel vats to express their purity and delicately nuanced minerality. The Calcrete cuvée represents Chardonnay in its purest, most classic and unoaked form, expressing the terroir with great clarity and remarkable minerality. An elegant, minimalist, linear and crystalline wine, with a vibrant lime aroma, hints of wet stone, a minerality reminiscent of oyster shells and a salty, chalky flavour.
