Castillo Perelada 5 Finques Reserva is a flagship red from one of Catalunya's most prestigious family estates — a producer with winemaking roots stretching back to the Middle Ages. Blending fruit from five distinct vineyards across DO Empðordà, from slate slopes to sandy plains and gravel, this is a wine of genuine complexity, personality, and a long, elegant finish. The estate's vineyards run from the Pyrenees down to the Mediterranean coast, planted on a remarkable diversity of soils that give the 5 Finques its layered character. Committed to sustainable agriculture, culturally engaged — the estate hosts a celebrated summer music festival — and producing wines of real ambition, Perelada is a producer worth knowing. Vineyard & Production Sourced from five vineyards between 40 and 150 metres above sea level, with an average vine age of 21 years. Soils range from slate and gravel to sandy plains and fluvial sediment, each contributing distinct flavours and aromatics. The wine is made with extended maceration and controlled fermentation at 24°C, then matured in a combination of American and Allier French oak before at least two years of bottle ageing prior to release. Tasting Notes Deep cherry-red in colour. Aromas of red fruits and spice on the nose, with balsamic hints and a subtle toasted background. The palate is fresh, well-structured, and balanced, with plentiful yet harmonious tannins and a long, elegant finish. A wine of great personality.
