Charles Heidsieck Brut Réserve is a premium non-vintage Champagne that exemplifies the finesse and depth of one of the smallest Grand Marques in Champagne. Grapes are sourced from 60 selected crus across the region, including Chardonnay from Oger, Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, and Meunier from Verneuil, ensuring the house style is consistently expressed. The final blend comprises 40% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir, and 20% Pinot Meunier, with 50% reserve wines averaging 10 years in age. The base wines undergo fermentation primarily in stainless steel, with a small fraction in old oak barrels to add texture. After blending, the wine undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and is aged on its lees in historic chalk cellars for 36–48 months, significantly longer than the legal minimum. Meet the producer Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, known as ‘Champagne Charlie’, the house is renowned for its historic crayères chalk cellars beneath Reims and a long tradition of excellence. Today, under cellar master Emilien Erard, the house combines artisanal expertise with sustainability, holding B-Corp Certification since 2022. Charles Heidsieck is celebrated for its dedication to extended lees ageing and meticulous grape selection, which has earned numerous international accolades. Production Grapes are hand-selected from 60 prime sites across Champagne. Following gentle pressing, fermentation occurs mainly in stainless steel, with a small portion in old oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation is carried out to soften acidity. Reserve wines are blended in, and after bottling, the Champagne undergoes secondary fermentation and extended lees ageing for 36–48 months before disgorgement. Minimal fining and filtration preserve aromatic complexity and texture. Tasting notes Radiant pale gold with fine, persistent bubbles. The nose is complex, showing pastry aromas complemented by ripe apricot, mango, greengages, dried fruits, pistachio, and almond. The palate is silky and harmon
