Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva is a refined and structured red from Rioja Alta, crafted primarily from Tempranillo with a small addition of Graciano to add complexity and freshness. Hand-picked from limestone-rich clay soils in Cenicero, this is Rioja Gran Reserva at its most considered and elegant. Why You'll Love It El Coto, founded in 1970, is one of Rioja's most respected producers, with over 730 hectares across Rioja Alta, Rioja Alavesa, and Rioja Oriental. Head winemaker Cesar Fernandez combines modern winery practices with meticulous grape handling to ensure quality and consistency across every release. The Gran Reserva represents the pinnacle of that commitment, spending a minimum of 18 months in French and American oak before a further 18 months of bottle refinement. The result is a wine of genuine depth and poise that rewards patience and attention. Vineyard and Production Grapes are hand-picked into 35kg crates, sorted, destemmed, and crushed before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 21 to 30 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in tank. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, before a further 18 months of bottle refinement to achieve full complexity and balance.
