Barone Pizzini's signature cuvée, Golf 1927 pays homage to the estate founded by the Baron of the same name in Franciacorta, alongside one of Italy's first golf complexes. Situated on the mineral-rich shores of Lake Iseo, in the north-east of Italy, the organically farmed vines express the modern character of a terroir with intense flavours. Comprising 95% Chardonnay and a touch of Pinot Bianco, with a second fermentation in the bottle on the lees for 20 to 30 months, the Franciacorta Golf 1927 Extra Brut is a delicate, lively and luminous sparkling wine. On the nose, it reveals typical aromas of yellow fruit and crisp apple, white flowers and citrus (grapefruit, lemon), whilst its spicy (ginger), toasty and mineral (oyster shells) nuances lend it added character. Supported by a full-bodied texture and a finely crafted structure, the palate strikes a balance between ripe fruit, a hint of saltiness and a lingering tang.
