Meet the Producer

Wiese & Krohn was founded in 1865 by two Norwegians, Theodor Wiese and Dankert Krohn, who initially shipped Port to Scandinavia. Today, the house continues to craft classic Ports with a focus on quality and traditional methods, blending fruit from their own vineyards with carefully selected neighbouring estates.

Production

Grapes are grown on schistous soils at Krohn’s estate and nearby vineyards. Vinification takes place in closed fermentation tanks, with fermentation interrupted by the addition of grape brandy to preserve natural sweetness. The wine is then matured in seasoned 600-litre oak casks, which impart subtle complexity while maintaining the bright fruit character.

Tasting Notes

Tawny-red in colour, with aromas of caramel, butterscotch, currants, and gentle spice. The palate is smooth and sweet, displaying rich red fruit flavours complemented by a soft nutty undertone. Full-bodied yet balanced, with an elegant, lingering finish. Food match Serve slightly chilled as an aperitif during warm months, or at room temperature after a meal with nuts and a cheese board.
