A complex, low-yielding old vine Bobal from eastern Spain. This indigenous grape variety is gaining increasing recognition for its vibrant, characterful style. The name Sericis pays homage to the silk trade, which was once central to the economy of Requena. Meet the producer Bodegas Murviedro was founded in Valencia in 1927 as the Spanish subsidiary of the Swiss Schenk Group. Over the decades, it has become one of the region’s most important producers, combining traditional Spanish grape varieties with modern winemaking techniques to craft wines that truly reflect their origin. Production Exclusively crafted from low-yielding old vine Bobal grown in the Medio Día area, where chalk and clay soils with little organic matter produce small but highly concentrated harvests. The combination of long sunshine hours and marked diurnal temperature shifts further enhances flavour intensity. After destemming and gentle pressing, the grapes undergo a long maceration at controlled temperatures. Malolactic fermentation follows, with ageing in new French Allier oak barrels for eight months to add depth and structure. Tasting notes Ripe aromas of dark fruits layered with subtle spice. The palate is bold yet balanced, offering juicy plum and bramble fruit alongside toasty oak complexity. Chunky in texture, with finely woven tannins and plenty of fruit intensity, giving both power and harmony.
