Ramos Pinto were the original pioneers of quality winemaking in the Douro, a legacy that continues today. Duas Quintas takes its name from the two estates where the grapes are sourced – Quinta de Ervamoira and Quinta do Bons Ares. Quinta de Ervamoira, located in a rocky, hot, and dry area along the banks of the river Côa, contributes density and body to the wines and was the first Douro estate to plant individual vineyard blocks with a single variety matched to soil and climate. Quinta do Bons Ares, a higher elevation granite vineyard, provides freshness and vivacity. Duas Quintas wines exemplify the Douro’s strengths: full-bodied, fruit-forward, structured, and long-lived.

Vineyards

The grapes for this wine are grown across the two Ramos Pinto estates. Quinta de Ervamoira produces ripe, concentrated fruit, while the higher-altitude Quinta do Bons Ares adds freshness, balance, and aromatic lift.

Winemaking

Grapes are hand-harvested and transported in small boxes to the winemaking centre, where they are kept separate by variety and vineyard. The must is obtained through direct pressing after cold maceration. Ninety percent of the wine is fermented in stainless steel vats at low temperatures, while the remaining 10% undergoes fermentation in French and Austrian oak casks of varying capacities.

Vintage Information

The growing season began early thanks to ample soil water reserves from a rainy winter. Spring temperatures stabilized by May, with very little rainfall until summer, when rain arrived in June. July and August were hot and dry, followed by heavy rainfall in late September, just after harvest. White grapes in particularly Rabigato, displayed exceptional aromatic potential, leading to a lively, expressive blend. Tasting Note Pale with gold-green reflections, the wine presents aromas of lemon, white flowers, and herbs, with a touch of spice. The palate is dry yet elegant, showing hints of ripe golden fruit and a crisp lemon finish.
