Made entirely from the Riesling grape variety, this dry, distinguished wine is a refined expression of the Alsace AOC. Delicately fruity, it reveals a bouquet of great finesse, punctuated by mineral and floral notes that reflect its unique terroir. The name Midelberg refers to the historic location of Mittelbergheim on a 17th-century map, highlighting the wine’s deep roots in its terroir. The hand-harvested grape harvest ensures a rigorous selection of the grapes, followed by pneumatic pressing of whole bunches. The wine then undergoes static settling with filtration of the lees, followed by a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation, before ageing in century-old oak casks, which impart elegance and structure without masking the aromatic purity. Served between 8 and 10°C, it is best enjoyed whilst young and can undergo ageing for up to 4 years, by which time it will have developed its full vibrancy and balance. It pairs wonderfully with fish and shellfish, as well as white meats and traditional Alsatian dishes, such as sauerkraut.
