Teliani Valley Winery 97 Kakhuri No8 is a distinctive amber wine from Georgia’s Kakheti region, crafted from four indigenous grape varieties: Rkatsiteli, Kakhuri Mtsvane, Khikhvi, and Kisi. Made using traditional Kakhetian skin-contact winemaking, this orange wine offers rich dried fruit and nutty flavours, a long, dry, and refreshing finish, and a unique expression of Georgia’s ancient viticultural heritage.

Meet the Producer

Founded in the 1990s by a group of passionate young winemakers, Teliani Valley transformed a former car workshop into one of Georgia’s most innovative wineries. Today, it is renowned for combining modern techniques with traditional Georgian winemaking methods.

Production

Grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure optimal ripeness and quality. Fermentation occurs with skins for 7–10 days, after which the grape skins remain in contact with the wine for six months, imparting colour, tannin, and complexity. This traditional Kakhetian approach results in a textured, aromatic, and structured orange wine.

Tasting Notes

This experimental amber wine from Teliani’s Winery 97 project offers rich notes of dried fruit, nuts, and subtle spice. On the palate, it is dry, refreshing, and long, with well-integrated tannins. Best served cool (not cold) to preserve the delicate flavours and avoid accentuating the tannins. Food match Pairs beautifully with fish dishes and a variety of cheeses. Serve cool, not cold.
