The 2018 Volnay Les Chevrets 1er Cru has a smudged nose that is missing the precision and delineation of other vintages. There's a bit of heat evident here. Cough candy scents emerge with time. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins, muscular and brawny, yet paradoxically there is an absence of grip on the finish. Perhaps time will endow it with greater nuance and personality?
