Choosing wine with curry and spicy food
Which kind of curry?
Think about the sauce and heat. Mild coconut curry and hot tomato-based curry are different pairings. Riesling or Gewürztraminer are aromatic options; an off-dry bottle may suit chilli. Neither grape name guarantees sweetness.
Do you need a sweet wine?
You may not. Chilli and sweetness in the sauce should guide that decision. Look for freshness and fruit, and ask the retailer if the bottle’s sweetness is unclear.
