This Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot blend from Vergelegen has Claret-like aromas of black and redcurrant fruit, coffee, tobacco, mocha and sexy oak. A pliant, mid-weight wine with noteworthy richness and a firm spine of harmonious acidity to its intense berry and spice flavours. Sourced from north and north-westerly vineyards at Vergelegen, Somerset West, where soil types of granite, Hutton and weathered shale dominate. Vergelegen is indeed a fascinating estate with a rich history! It's not just a winery, but a cultural and historical landmark in South Africa. The estate's origins date back to 1700 when it was first established by Willem Adriaan van der Stel, a Dutch colonial governor. Its location, nestled between the Lourens River and the Hottentots Holland Mountains, makes it a picturesque place with a diverse range of landscapes.
