How Vineyard Climate Intelligence decides what to publish
Every public climate or origin statement must name its source, evidence date and matching or calculation method. A dataset existing in storage is never enough. Unsupported visitor, ownership, terrain, drought, accommodation and event claims stay out.
Publication ledger
What is live, joined, handed off or withheld
| Layer | Status | Source | Evidence date | Method | Boundary |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| INAO parcels | Published | INAO / Géoplateforme · Licence Ouverte 2.0 | 2026-08-10 | Group by primary appellation; map only records with coordinates and at least four boundary vertices | No ownership, planting, production or bottle-provenance inference |
| eAmbrosia origins | Published where joined | European Commission eAmbrosia reuse notice | Shown on each exact register match | Exact designation-name lookup; register context remains separate from bottle entitlement | No fuzzy origin match and no claim that a bottle qualifies |
| US AVA origins | Bottle pages only | US Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau | Shown on each bottle designation record | Exact normalised region-name match to a TTB AVA record | No Vineyard Intelligence region page until a governed AVA geometry join passes |
| SoilGrids | Published where joined | ISRIC SoilGrids 2.0 · CC BY 4.0 | 2026-07-26 | 250 m point sample with depth-specific values at a sourced mapped coordinate | Model prediction, not a field or laboratory soil test |
| Reference weather | Published where joined | NOAA Global Summary of the Day · US public domain | 2026-07-26 | Weighted monthly aggregation of dated daily station observations | Regional or national reference, not vineyard weather |
| Vintage climate and drought | Withheld | Copernicus ERA5-Land and drought indicators · attributed reuse | No published rows | Point-specific growing-season anomalies and bp-vcr-1.0 screening | Never a wine-quality, terroir or investment score |
| NASA climate | Withheld | NASA POWER holding | No published joined snapshot | Requires a reproducible place/station, time-window and licence-led materialisation | Presence in storage is not publication permission or a local climate claim |
| Terrain | Withheld | Terrain holdings under review | No published parcel join | Requires an official elevation sample and reproducible slope/aspect derivation | A parcel bounding box is not treated as terrain |
| Producer ownership | Withheld | No governed ownership edge | No public evidence date | Would require a cited legal or producer source and dated relationship | A mapped name, website or nearby parcel does not establish ownership |
| Visits | Follow The Vines handoff | Current venue or governed visitor source required | Confirm at planning time | BottlePicker exposes source links but does not convert map tags into visit availability | Opening, booking and access can change |
| Accommodation and events | Follow The Vines handoff | Rights/currentness review required | No permitted BottlePicker snapshot | Only publish current fields under documented reuse or commercial terms | No private accommodation feed fields or stale event claims |
| Public transport and cycle routes | Withheld | No governed origin-evidence join | No BottlePicker publication date | Transport and route evidence belongs to a current visitor-planning surface with its own licence and refresh rules | A nearby stop or route is not climate, soil, origin or vintage evidence |
| Restaurants and producers | Withheld | Producer and venue holdings require source-specific review | No qualified Vineyard Intelligence snapshot | Would require a current, licensed record and an explicit relationship to the displayed entity | Name similarity, proximity or a directory listing does not prove ownership, production or visitor access |
| Bottle availability | Published where verified | Authorised BottlePicker retailer feeds | Shown beside every local-market handoff | Exact bottle identity plus offer_count > 0 in one country and currency | No affiliate feed internals; retailer checkout controls stock, territory and legal age |
Permanent-page gate
Rendering and sitemaps share one decision
An appellation page enters the sitemap and renders index, follow only through the same bp-vci-1.0 predicate: at least 100 parcel records, 50 mapped geometries, 80% geometry coverage, a stable representative identifier and a finite mapped extent. Individual parcels remain noindex until terrain, soil, drought, climate and substantial interpretation are all joined.
Vintage-page gate
0 vintages currently qualify
A vintage page and its sitemap URL use the same predicate: six sites, two origins, 80% complete seasons, 80% scored sites, at least one weather source, at least one drought source and a dated update. The page is absent—not thin or merely hidden—when any requirement fails.
Product boundary
Evidence first; commerce only at the handoff
Climate and origin pages never expose feed-only fields. A local price appears only after an exact structured bottle match has a dated current offer in that country and currency. Legal age, delivery and stock must be checked at the retailer.
Shared portfolio boundary
BottlePicker explains the bottle and land; visitor planning stays separate
Visits, current openings, stays, transport, cycle routes, restaurants and events form a separate visitor journey. They are assessed in the ledger but not copied into this origin-and-vintage product.
This evidence surface links to BottlePicker's governed catalogue only. It does not publish or link through restricted visitor, accommodation or affiliate-feed fields.
