The description below is the retailer’s own wording.
Pinot Gris Grand Cru Brand offers a deep, clear, bright and intense bouquet with stony and smoky bacon aromas. The nose is fresh and pure, with even some lemon aromas. Boxler proves convincingly that Pinot Gris deserves a place in your cellar alongside your outstanding bottles of Burgundian Chardonnay. None more so than his bottling from the famed Turckheim grand cru of Brand, where steep southern exposure on granite allows the vines to deliver grapes with the perfect balance of rich, smoky depth and hot stone minerality, built to age, with sublime aromas, textures, and flavors. The 2021 Pinot Gris Brand Grand Cru is sourced from two parcels, one planted in 1969, the other in 1990. There is a notion of dried and baked pear alongside fresh fruit, speaking of a later harvest, but not quite vendanges tardives style. The palate also carries those lovely fresh, dried and baked pear notes, even a touch of gingerbread, while the palate ebbs and flows with a rounded richness. The spicy edges are lovely, resulting from a tiny bit of botrytis, while the medium-sweet finish sits well with the generosity and roundness of the wine. (Medium)
