Source-supplied bottle description
Retained as supporting identification copy; the structured facts and evidence links above are kept separate.
The Fazzoletto Barbera Passito is a rich, concentrated red wine from Piemonte DOC, inspired by the traditional Italian passito method. With its deep fruit character and smooth, rounded finish, it celebrates both Italian heritage and innovative winemaking. Each 6-bottle case contains a random selection of three distinctive label designs, reflecting the “Fazzoletto Rosso” worn by Italian resistance fighters during World War II.
Meet the Producer
Araldica Castelvero is Piemonte’s most forward-thinking co-operative, based in Castel Boglione at the heart of Barbera d’Asti. The winery is known for its modern approach, combining innovation with respect for traditional Piedmontese viticulture.
Production
This Passito is a rediscovery of an old Piedmontese tradition, using partially-dried Barbera grapes to enhance richness and concentration. Grapes are grown on southwest-facing slopes in the Monferrato hills at 250–400m altitude, in clay and limestone soils. About 20% of the Barbera grapes are left on the vine for nearly a month after the main harvest to sun-dry, then blended with fresh grapes before fermentation. This technique naturally sweetens and softens the wine while preserving vibrant acidity.
Tasting Notes
A fleshy and juicy red, showing aromas of sweet ripe plums and cherries. The palate is fruit-forward with cherry and wild plum flavours, balanced by fresh bramble acidity and a smooth, rounded finish.
Food Pairing
Ideal with roast poultry, game, rich stews, and hearty pasta dishes. Also works beautifully as a dessert wine with berry or chocolate-based desserts.
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
