Bodega Vistalba Tomero Malbec is a vibrant and expressive red wine from the Valle de Uco, one of Argentina's most celebrated high-altitude wine regions. Grown at 1,090 metres above sea level in shallow, sandy-loam soils with a natural covering of native plants, this is a Malbec of real structure, freshness and character.

Why You'll Love It

Valle de Uco is where Argentina's finest Malbec is made, and Tomero is a compelling example of why. The high altitude and cool nights preserve freshness and acidity, while the shallow, low-fertility soils push the vines to produce concentrated, aromatic fruit. With 20% aged in French oak for eight months and the balance in stainless steel, this is a wine that balances richness with elegance in equal measure. Vineyard and Production The vineyards were planted in 2000 at 1,090 metres above sea level in the Valle de Uco. The shallow, sandy-loam soils are low in fertility and studded with fragmented stones, encouraging deep root systems and naturally concentrated fruit. The vines are managed with a medium-density canopy to protect the fruit from direct solar radiation, with drip irrigation and no-till farming preserving a natural cover of native plants combined with rye. Grapes are hand-harvested in 20kg crates during the second half of March.

Winemaking

follows traditional methods, with two days of cold pre-fermentative maceration, pump-overs, rack-and-return and punch-downs during fermentation at 25 degrees. The wine is then aged for eight months, with 20% in French oak and 80% in stainless steel tanks.

Tasting Notes

Intense ruby in colour with violet reflections. The nose offers aromas of ripe red fruits with a fresh, inviting character. The palate has a sweet entry with good structure and acidity, silky tannins and a long, persistent finish.

Perfect Pairings

A natural partner for grilled and roasted red meats. Excellent with Argentine asado, beef short rib, lamb chops or a hearty meat ragu. Also great alongside aged hard cheeses o

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
