Meet the Producer
Boekenhoutskloof, located in the Franschhoek Valley and parts of Stellenbosch, is one of South Africa’s most respected estates. Renowned for producing bold, elegant wines with complexity and ageing potential, the winery combines traditional practices with innovative techniques to craft wines that are deeply expressive of their terroir.
Production
Grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness to ensure concentrated flavours and precise tannin structure. After careful sorting, fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks with temperature control to manage extraction. The wine undergoes post-fermentation maceration to build structure and texture, followed by maturation in French oak barrels—most of which are new or first-fill—for 18 months to integrate tannins and develop complexity.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in colour, the nose is rich with aromas of blackcurrant, dark cherry, cassis, and subtle notes of cedar, graphite, and spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, with velvety tannins, balanced acidity, and layered flavours of ripe dark fruits, chocolate, and fine oak. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent. Food match Ideal with grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, or mature hard cheeses. Grape Cabernet Sauvignon 100%
Evidence boundary
This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
