Michele Satta's signature cuvée, the Bolgheri Superiore Piastraia, was conceived by the pioneering winemaker to fully express the Mediterranean potential of Bolgheri's Bordeaux grape varieties. Made from the estate's finest vines and composed of the classic trio of the two Cabernets complemented by a touch of Merlot, vinified separately, the Piastraia is aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months (40% of which is new oak). The 2023 vintage, the first produced without Sangiovese, marks a stylistic evolution hailed by critics: “Sensual and captivating from the moment it is opened” according to Vinous, “restrained, with velvety tannins and lingering freshness” according to Suckling. On the nose, sweet aromas of red fruits and blackberry jam, subtly enhanced by spicy and smoky notes, dominate. On the palate, the Bolgheri Rosso Piastraia 2023 reveals harmony and elegance, with a full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel and a very balanced finish. Ready to drink from 2026, it can be cellared for around twenty years.

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
