Bollinger Special Cuvée is Bollinger’s iconic non-vintage Champagne, crafted from a blend of 60% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay, and 15% Meunier, with over 85% of the grapes sourced from Grands and Premiers Crus. The wine combines freshly harvested grapes with a majority of reserve wines, some aged for more than 15 years in Bollinger’s historic cellars, resulting in a refined and complex expression that exemplifies the house style. Special Cuvée is noted for its balance of structure, length, and vivacity, with a silky, chalky texture and an ultra-fine mousse that provides elegance and freshness from start to finish.

Meet the Producer

Bollinger, founded in 1829 and based in Aÿ, Champagne, is renowned for producing full-bodied, expressive champagnes with remarkable depth and ageing potential. The house maintains a commitment to excellence through meticulous vineyard selection and careful vinification, blending tradition with precision in every cuvée.

Production

Grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed, with primary fermentation in stainless steel and oak vats. Reserve wines are aged in magnums, some for more than 15 years, to enhance complexity and consistency. The cuvée undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle and is aged on its lees for an extended period, contributing to richness, texture, and aromatic depth.

Tasting Notes

Pale gold in colour with a fine, persistent mousse, the nose displays ripe fruit, brioche, roasted apples, apple compote, peaches, and subtle walnut notes. The palate is medium to full-bodied, rounded yet precise, with flavours of grapefruit zest, almond, and brioche layered over a creamy, elegant finish. Food Match Perfect as an aperitif or paired with sushi, sashimi, prawns, crayfish, grilled lobster, poultry, white meats, Parmesan cheese, or fine cured ham. Best served between 10 and 12°C. Grape Pinot Noir 60%, Chardonnay 25%, Meunier 15%

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
