Foral de Évora Tinto is a vibrant red wine from the Alentejo sub-region of Évora, produced on the historic Quinta de Valbom estate, where vineyards have thrived since 1517. Drawing on centuries of winemaking tradition, the wine honours the heritage of the region, inspired by the royal decree (Fora) granted to Évora by King Manuel I in 1501. Crafted from Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, and Trincadeira grapes grown in the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation vineyards, it combines ancient practices with modern winemaking techniques to deliver a wine of character and youthful exuberance.

Meet the Producer

Cartuxa , managed by the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation, has long been celebrated for producing wines that reflect the rich history of Évora while embracing precision and contemporary methods. The estate balances respect for tradition with innovation, crafting wines that are both expressive and refined.

Production

Grapes are carefully harvested at optimal ripeness and gently brought to the winery, where fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats under controlled temperatures. The wine undergoes extended maceration before maturing for twelve months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, followed by a further four months ageing in bottle prior to release.

Tasting Notes

Foral de Évora Tinto shows a deep, youthful colour and an expressive, floral nose. The palate is generous and vibrant, with rich flavours of red berries, black cherry, and spice, underpinned by good concentration and a lively freshness that reflects the wine’s youth. Food Match Serve between 16º and 18ºC. Perfect with grilled meats, hearty stews, or roasted lamb, Foral de Évora Tinto offers a bold yet elegant accompaniment to a variety of rich dishes. Grape Alicante Bouschet, Aragonez, Trincadeira

Evidence boundary

This page combines the recorded bottle identity with linked source records. An exact region-name match supplies regional context but does not prove that this bottle carries the protected designation. A vineyard is only shown as bottle-level evidence when a wine-to-vineyard link exists. BottlePicker does not infer a vineyard, soil or site climate from a retailer title.
